Event Description
“Hashers!” Another trail to get you fitter and exercised. (No other Hare presented themselves, so you get another Hashmaster hill trail). This trail is just short of 8km (so less than the 10km you all achieved a fortnight ago). We meet at Cafe Blue, and trail 3.5km downhill, from Irish Town, through old forest paths to reach Gordon Town. (NB The driving road is is 8.5km to reach same distance, so you can appreciate the nature of the ‘shortcut’ we take).
We walk through Gordon Town square and then trail up the old Bermuda Mount trail, which takes us back to Irish Town. The ascent is about 1500 feet.
Fine views of Kingston, coast, and hills, fresh air as these old footpaths are traversed.

Hash Directions
We will meet at Cafe Blue, which is on the main driving road, as one travels to Holywell. You all know this location. Leaving Kingston, via Papine, take the main road towards Newcastle and Holywell. Cafe Blue is about 40 minutes from Papine. PARKING. Consider car sharing. Leave on time. There is parking along the road, in little lay bys, from Irish Town, up to Strawberry Hill turn off. It may require some parking up and walking about 100/200 metres back to Cafe Blue.
Hash Extras
This is a shorter trail than St Peter's/Clydesdale trail. (Hash 581). The 3.5km downhill trail is on a narrow (single file) path in sections, through forest, with a small section on the Savage Pen road before entering forest again. The return Bermuda Mount section is 2.5/3 km uphill, but on wide parochial road and footpath. History: Bermuda Mount was one of the many estate houses which existed in 18th century. The Bermuda Mount trail was developed in the 18th century as the main route from Kingston to the hill stations and coffee plantations of the Bue Mountains. The Bermuda Mount trail reached to the Creighton coffee estate (it still does) and joins the Newcastle road shortly before Redlight. Our route turns off before reaching Creighton.
