Event Description

“Hashers!” phew, a Hash is on.

We were last at this location in March 2020, just before Covid broke.  We will meet down in the Yallahs river valley, at Riverhead.  Here the river is running before it passes in to the pipeline to feed the Mona dam.

The trail is about 5km, and involves some climbs up and down slopes – along country roads and bush trails.  But… we will also cross the river, at least twice.  The river is at knee height, so we will get wet shoes!

The Hash circle is near a river bathing spot which can be used after the Hash

Hash Directions

Leave Kingston, driving in an easterly direction, towards Harbour view.  Drive on the lovely new highway, towards Albion.

Do not enter as far as Albion town or Yallahs.  After about 20 minutes on the new highway you will see the 'Albion' sign and a traffic light.  Look out for it.  (Near where the old first and Last Albion bar was).  Turn LEFT off the new highway and drive along a fairly poor rural road towards Ramble.  From the left turn, turn off, the journey is about 40 minutes to Riverhead.

Keep on the main driving road all the way to Ramble.  The Yallahs river is on your right side of the road all the way to Ramble.  You pass through Easington,  Judgement Cliff (right side) and other communities.  The road is poor.  You must reach as far as Ramble - ask community persons, if you somehow get lost!

At Ramble you cross over two main road bridges, spanning the Yallahs river.  One is wooden and rickety!, the other is an old iron grid bridge.

This Google pin will get you to the bridges:

After crossing the bridges, travel for about another kilometer and you will see a LEFT turn which goes down a narrow dirt road.  There is a concrete bus stop at the turn.  (in 2020 there was a clear sign showing RiverHead!).

At the bottom of the road there is a football field.  You've arrived.  There should be JAH3 signs along the route!

Hash Extras

Hashers, we cross the river at least twice. We will get wet shoes, sock and lower trousers. Bring necessary change of clothing if needed.
