Event Description

Hashers!, two pieces of information here.  1)  Our Hash Olympics meeting is on Saturday 15 October and 2) our Hash 568 is the next day – Sunday 16 October.  Both events will start at 11.00am.

The Hash Olympics is at the Rafters Rest building, right on the Rio Grande. (photo attached).  Hash 568 will be in Skibo, situated on the Spanish river. (photo attached)

The games are light, easy, and usually involve balloons, water, quick quizzes, laughter and level of adult immaturity (ha).  We have rented the premises, which is for our exclusive use.  Bathroom facilities are there and cover from any rain.

The Sunday Hash is about a 5.5km trail, along a quite wonderful forest footpath, above and beside the Spanish river, and then quiet road uphill and back down in a circle to Skibo.

Both events will have Hash beer provided!  The Sat Olympics will also have food.

This web site can only record one date, so this registering for the Hash Olympic day, but please also state in the Comments section on the Registration page if you will also be attending the Hash.   Ring me if any difficulties.

The Sat Olympics is $1500JMD (if having food).  If not wishing food, it is $800JMD.

The Sunday Hash remains $500JMD, but we might be able to secure a meal.

Hash Directions

  1. Directions to Sat Hash Olympics.  This is easy.  Travel to the north coast, usual route.  Turn right at Robert Schumann roundabout and drive along coast road.  It is about 40km from Annotto Bay to Rafter's Rest.  You pass through Buff Bay.  You will cross the Rio Grande road bridge and Rafter's Rest is a LEFT turn immediately after you've crossed the bridge.  Just check out Google maps where it is labelled Rafter's Rest (Rio Grande Rafting).  There is ample parking in the grounds
  2.  Slightly more tricky!  More directions for those who attend on Sat. See the attached Google pin reference.  Skibo is south, off the main coast road at Spring Garden. Once on the road, it is the only road (narrow in places) with the Spanish river on your left side as you drive along.  It will take you to direct to Skibo, where you will cross a single lane iron bridge.  In Skibo you will turn LEFT off the main road, and down a rural road to the dead end, where the circle will be.  A few signs will be posted up. Hash Extras

It is possible to swim on the river foreshore at the Rafters Rest. Remember to bring your swimwear/towels etc. The Hash does not cross any river, but it is located right by the river. Paddling, dipping is possible - provided it's not in spate. The forest route is an old pathway, quite even, except for some diversion where there is landslip. The road section is uphill for about 1.5km, then all down hill. Relatively easy enough for all.
