Event Description

“Hashers”!  We return to the hospitality of the Jacks Hill community, who have welcomed JAH3 on a number of occasions over the years.

This is an almost exact 5km trail, which takes us downhill on the driving road for a very short way, and then deep (down!) into the river valley.  The river bed is virtually dry, but there are a few pools and puddles to pass across.  The riverbed section is very small bouldering but flat.  The last part contains a steep (uphill!) hill and ridgeside path.

A lovely empty, forested walk, with much plant and forest life, and view across the extreme western edge of the Blue mountains.

Hash Directions

This is an easy journey, some 15/20 minutes from the Barbican centre.

You are travelling up to the top of Jack’s Hill and the Jacks Hill Community centre.

From the Texaco petrol station, at the intersection of Barbican Road and Jack's Hill road, it is a straightforward, 5.7 km, drive up to the Jack's Hill community centre.
Driving time from the Texaco gas station is between 15 - 20 minutes.

Drive up Jack's Hill road, take the sharp RIGHT ‘S’ bend after 2.6 km, at the multiple sign posts on the side of the road. (Do not drive straight ahead!) and continue on Jack's Hill road.

If you miss this sharp right turn, you'll be on Sunset Avenue and will end up in Cherry Gardens!
Drive another 3.1 km you'll find the Jack's Hill community centre on your left.

NB.  The road is driveable for all cars.

Hash Extras

Please to note. There will be Hash beer brought to this Hash. Please bring sun cream, and insect repellent (but there are no ticks) and you are advised to wear long trousers. Please carry your own water. Walkers need to hydrate BEFORE they feel faint or over tired. Bring a hat. JAH3 T shirts ($2500) and car stickers ($600) will available for purchase. Local honey will also be on sale from the community farmers. $2800JMD. Lastly. There is an expectation of a level of fitness and previous exercise before embarking on most of the JAH3 trails. 5km is not far at all, but it is not flat, or even, and requires physical exertion in sections and a level of sure footedness. If 1 is too easy for everyone and 10 is impossible for most, this trail is a 4/5.
